Alliance!

I took a day vacation to explore the city of Alliance, Nebraska. I thought I could do some traveling to all the sights here.
This is Alliance's City Park Fountain. Beautiful, isn't it?

This is me outside the Carnegie Arts Center! Woo! Mew!
Since there's no photography allowed inside the gallery spaces, I took a few outdoors with the sculptures. I decided to read a book with this girl.
Ah! Please don't drop me!

My next stop was the Sallow's Military Museum. Can you find me in the picture below?

My next stop was the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center!

I got my Passport stamp and enjoyed the museum! There was lots of really cool things from Alliance's earlier years. Meow.

Rocking Out at Chimney Rock!

I went to get my next Nebraska Passport stamp at the Chimney Rock Visitor Center near Bayard, Nebraska. That was a lot of fun! The ladies there let me run around and get some pictures while I learned all about the famous rock.
The first thing I did (after admissions of course), was head out back to get my photo taken of this rock. Cool huh? Mew? The sign behind me is a warning to watch out for rattlesnakes! o.o
You read that right!
After coming inside, I checked out the Chimney Rock exhibit where they have a touchable small-scale version of the rock.
On the other side of the museum, there's an exhibit about the California, Mormon, and Oregon Trails. They feature this fun, interactive wagon where you can prepare for your journey west- without overloading the wagon. Meow! After I had this picture taken, I realized I wasn't supposed to climb in the wagon. Good emigrants and kitties walked alongside the wagons, not in them! Meow!

The people you see pictured on the wall donated money to build the visitor center at Chimney Rock. After all that, I made my way to the Gift Store!
Look at me! Mew! I'm Grape flavored! :3
Haha! Get it? "Tales" of the Wild West? ;)
I had so much fun out here! You could even say it rocked!

Stray Cat? Nah, just exploring.

Do you see that in the background? That, my friends, is Scottsbluff National Monument. Pretty cool, huh? I've just been doing some local exploring lately when the weather is nice. I should be up at Agate Fossil Beds here soon. My Nebraska passport book is really coming along too. :)

Sprinkles in some Frozen Yogurt

Took a trip up to Mitchell, South Dakota with some friends and we stopped at this fantastic frozen yogurt place called CherryBerry. So delicious! I ate that whole bowl full, believe it or not. It was delicious! =^_^= Mitchell is a cute little city too.

Sprinkles Kitty Becomes a Chadron State Eagle

Yes! Mew! That is correct! I became a Chadron State College Eagle for a day. I spent yesterday and some of today roaming around the Chadron State College campus, checking out the buildings and hanging with some students. The campus is pretty big for a small kitty like me! I also got to learn how to play Borderlands 2 with a girl my owner called "Fish". She didn't seem all that fishy to me though. But she was really nice! I have some new friends supporting me in my travels now. My owner leaves campus tonight, so it was a brief visit, but it was well worth it. I've really enjoyed my time here. I will be coming back sometime for Fall 2013!!! Meow!!

Fur Trade?! Oh, thank goodness I have no fur!

Hello everyone! Meow!
Today was the first day of the Nebraska Passport program. I celebrated by going to see the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Nebraska. It's this really cute museum in a white old Spanish-like building just east of Chadron. My owner went with her good friend, Julya. Today was their first day opening for the Summer, and the museum had some new exhibits up. So of course, we had to stop and look around.

There were so many wonderful things! An entire room filled with old firearms, some stuffed wild game, really cool beaver hats, and lots of items traded between the fur trappers and the Native Americans in different areas of the United States. It was so interesting! The gift shop was full of fun, unique trinkets too! I recommend going and seeing it. :)

Afterwards, I went back to the Chadron State College Campus to go see the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center. It is a museum about the life and works of Mari Sandoz, a famous Nebraska author. She lived in Western Nebraska and wrote many novels about the stories of the prairie. There is also an area where the museum serves the diverse interests of the college students. On the basement level, there is the C.F.Coffee Gallery which has lots of information about the cowboys of Nebraska, including Mr. Coffee. :) It's really a great place to go.... and it got me my second Nebraska Passport stamp! =^.^= Day one... two stamps. Only until September 30th to get the other 78.

A Lazy Day for Sprinkles

Good evening! Meow!
Tomorrow is Tuesday and I am working on some plans! I will be visiting Chadron, Nebraska and Chadron State College tomorrow. There are a few museums that I plan to visit as well, but I will be doing that on Wednesday, the first day of the Nebraska Passport program!

We are expecting more snow on Wednesday though. I'm hoping for rain instead. I am ready for Summer! Meow!

On Wednesday, weather permitting, I will be visiting the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, Museum of the Fur Trade, and perhaps a few other local spots in the area. :) But only after I pick up my Nebraska Passport! Won't that be fun? Of course, I'll share my adventures with everyone! =^-^= Look for more posts this week!

Nebraska Passport and One Special Kitty!

Hello! Meow!
I am not just any kitty, but I am a Nebraska kitty. I've lived most of my existence in the state of Nebraska, in the Western Panhandle area to be exact. I know a lot of people think Nebraska is boring. What do you think of when you think of Nebraska?

Farm land? Corn? The Cornhuskers? Larry the Cable Guy?

Or maybe if you're a bit more educated or local to the area, you think of...

The Louisiana Purchase? Cowboys? Rodeos? UNL? The Oregon Trail?

Well, if you don't know much about Nebraska, I really advise taking the Nebraska Passport challenge! I am! Mew! It'll take you all over the state to 80 attractions, all sectioned into eight themed tours. You pick up a passport book and you get it stamped at as many locations as possible! And what's there to lose? You get to see interesting attractions you never knew existed, get the chance to win really cool prizes, and you get very special memories in the process.

So, here's a list of some of the places:

-Fort Robinson State Park in Crawford
-Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer in Grand Island
-Lakota Hope Center and Lakota Art Institute in Whiteclay
-Back Alley Bakery in Hastings
-West Nebraska Arts Center in Scottsbluff
-Woodland Trails Art and Learning Center in Winnebago
-Agate Fossil Beds National Monument in Harrison
-Nebraska National Forest in Halsey
-The Rocket Inn in Indianola
-Lakehouse Bar and Grill in North Platte
-Boys Town at Boys Town
-General Crook House at Fort Omaha in Omaha
-Arrow Hotel and Suites in Broken Bow
-Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast in Nebraska City
-Loop Brewing Company in McCook
-Thunderhead Brewing Company in Kearney
-Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center in Chadron
-Wright Morris Walking/Driving Tour in Central City
-Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln
-Strawbale Church in Arthur
-Glur's Tavern in Columbus

If that's not enough for you, there's the prizes you can win. Each completed tour gets a free t-shirt, 20 stamps gets you 20 $1 Nebraska scratch tickets, 40 stamps get you a digital camera, and everyone gets the chance to be entered to win a grand prize drawing. There is also an additional drawing for 300 $1 Nebraska scratch tickets.

So join me folks. :) It'll be fun!

Introduction

Hello! Meow! And welcome!
My name is Sprinkles, and I am a very special knitted kitty. Why? Because I am curious about the world around me, and I want to see it all! Or... as much as I can. =^-^=

This is my goal in life. I was born January 2013 in Fort Collins, Colorado and was sent out to Nebraska to live with my current owner. She's a college student who dreams of working in a museum or historical site someday. Neat, huh? Mew? Well, I'm going to travel with her on her travels and share some of it here with everyone!

So... to summarize that up, you can see where I go, who I hang with, what events I go to, and all of the other little tidbits of my journeys. Please read along and stick with me as I complete my journeys.
